Beavers
Beaver Scouts are the youngest section in the Purton & Lydiard group and is the section where most children start their Scouting journey.
The group meets on Monday nights during term time at Lydiard Millicent Primary School. Sessions normally run from 6:15 – 7:15pm.
Beavers costs £20 per month, payable in advance by Direct Debit.
Children can start Beavers from around their sixth birthday and will remain with the group until they are around eight, at which point they can move up to the Cub group.
Support
The Beaver colony is supported by a fantastic team of parent volunteers who give their time to make sure the sessions are fun and interesting. If this sounds like something you might like to do, please get in touch – we’re always looking for new volunteers to help keep the group running. Activities
Over the years the Beavers have been involved in so many different activities it’s hard to remember them all, but some of the highlights have been:

- Camp fires and cookery
- Canoeing

- Dodgeball
- Food from around the World
- Paper planes
- Parties
- Quizzes
- Recycling
- Relay races
- Rock climbing
- Science experiments
- Silly games
- Supporting the community
- Virtual reality space missions
- Visiting speakers
- Visits to (and from) local emergency services providers (fire, police, ambulance)
- Visits to the Defence Academy in Shrivenham to explore their collection of military vehicles
Our group is very popular and often has a bit of a waiting list so it’s good to get in early. If you would like to join, please fill in the joining form and someone will get back to you as soon as they can.
The leadership team
The Beavers are currently lead by:

All have their own children in the Beaver group and enjoy outdoor activities such as camping and countryside walks, and encouraging teamwork though fun activities and games.
