RAF Lyneham visit (Apr 2010)
On Wednesday 28th April, 2010 1st Purton and Lydiard Cub Pack visited RAF Lyneham. Sgt Matt Nicholls spent 2 hours with the Cubs and gave them a very informative and interactive visit – one which all of us will remember for many years to come! This contributed to our Air Activities Badge.
We learnt about Airfield safety, weather conditions affecting flying, learnt the main parts of the Hercules aeroplane, and were lucky enough to board the Hercules and have a guided tour of the aircraft. Sgt Nicholls works as a Flight Engineer aboard the Hercules and also told us about the work that he does in the RAF with 70 Squadron.
We also made a paper dart aeroplane, and were given a glowstick and squadron badge to come home with! Everyone had a great time and we thank Sgt Nicholls and his Wing Commander for arranging and allowing this visit.
